Becoming a Resident at River Garden
River Garden Auchincruive is nothing like a standard rehabilitation centre. We are a recovery community who accept people who are motivated to leave addiction behind for good.
If you just want to tick a box to say you have done rehab, River Garden is not the place for you. Whether you’ve tried to get into recovery before, or are just starting your journey, River Garden has the support you need to succeed.
River Garden Auchincruive is a residential community for people who have recently detoxed from drugs and/or alcohol. We live and work together in a place of comfort, nurture, routine, natural beauty and safety. We support each other. We push each other forward. We help each other recover. We help each other heal. Together.
In order to join us at River Garden, we require prospective residents to go through a structured application process. This involves getting clean & sober for an agreed period and working with RGA staff to arrange both a day and overnight visit. In the run up to your admission we also require potential residents to keep in touch with their progress and show a level of commitment to the application process.
While there is no exact timeframe for recovery, the River Garden programme is structured over the course of three years. In order to build a sustainable & long-term recovery, we encourage all residents to complete the programme in full. RGA take a flexible approach however & work with individuals based on their needs. River Garden will become your home, your family and your community.
It will help you find yourself again through teamwork and building relationships, working in the garden and building a range of new skills across our social enterprises. You will also learn how to cope with the stresses such as anger and alienation. But most importantly, you will learn to accept who you are.

Referring clients
We are happy to engage with potential applicants while they are still in treatment as the application process can take several weeks. Application is by self-referral only, but we are happy for treatment staff and workers in other support agencies to signpost potential applicants to us.

River Garden Costs
While there are currently no financial costs to access the programme, a place at River Garden is certainly not free! In return for your place, we expect residents to contribute to the community through structured and meaningful work. Tasks carried out by residents help support our social enterprises and ultimately fund their places on the programme.
Information for family members
We know that having a family member with an addiction is devastating. Years of lies and broken promises can tear families apart. Trust is easy to break and hard to restore. But with time, if a family member can get into long-term recovery, relationships can repair and trust can be rebuilt.

How can you refer your family members?
You cannot make a direct referral for your family member, as people seeking our help need to take the initiative to contact us directly. This shows their motivation to join the programme & get into recovery.
However, we are happy to speak with you on the phone to discuss how you might encourage your loved one to apply to us for a place at River Garden Auchincruive.
